Clive Figes

"Hello, I'm Clive Figes, the proprietor of Sigma Studios. I live in Devon in England with my wife, Sue but originally came from the London area.

"I became interested in photography over thirty five years ago after buying my first 35mm camera. After a couple of years photographing anything I decided to go and study, starting as a student and later progressing to assistant lecturer. My main interests were in portraiture and landscapes but I had an insatiable appetite for knowledge and wanted to take better photographs. I became very knowledgeable on photo manipulation, the art of toning and tinting and then the initial processing and printing of the film.

"All this work is now out of the window with the advent of digital photography and processing, as it is now so much easier to instantly preview the finished item. I had always emulated all the photographers that I admired but as a college lecturer once pointed out to me - "develop your own style of photography". Produce photos that are immediately identifiable as yours, use your manipulation skills, but know in advance what you want to achieve, and go for it. No matter how long it takes to perfect, make it simple yet dynamic. This is a principle that I employed with my Distinction Application Panel to the R.P.S. .It was one of my photographic highs when they made me an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society. It gave me a wonderful feeling of recognition, and of having finally made it as a photographer.

"I have had my work compared very favourably with other professional photographers. I have no reservations and indeed, go out of my way to present the quality to prospective clients. However, the comment that comes back to me the most is how competitive my prices are when you consider the quality and compared to other professional photographers.

"Now judge for yourself as you browse through my collection. I do hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did in taking them."

Regards,
Clive
